Selling t-shirts with your original design is a great way to earn money for your adoption.
When planning fundraisers, we wanted to create a product for people to buy, without investing much money ourselves. We couldn’t afford to lose money in the process.
We used Bonfire to create our shirts. They made it so easy and earned about $10 per shirt sold.

When you use a service like Bonfire, you don’t spend any of your money at all during the fundraiser and they take care of everything.
Quality. Payment. Shipping. It’s so easy.
And they will send you the funds straight to your PayPal account.
All you have to do is design your shirt, select the options, and start advertising.
All of the shirts I have bought through a fundraiser using Bonfire have been great quality.
The only downside is that your shopper will have to wait for the campaign to end to receive their shirt.
When they go on the website to make a purchase, it will say when the campaign ends and when the shirts will be shipped.

2. Create a generic design
I love and wear graphic tees all the time. And my adoption ones are my favorite of course.
But, you will get more sales with a generic design that appeals to a variety of people.
Although this is a fundraiser for your adoption, your shirt does not have to have anything to do with adoption.
I love the shirts I see that are very specific to someone’s adoption and may even include their #lastname, but that won’t resonate with someone from across the state doesn’t know you.
But a stranger may buy your shirt if you create an awesome design.
If you want to make a shirt specific to your adoption, you should!
Bonfire makes it so easy to have more than one tee shirt design since you don’t have to buy an inventory to sell.
Just have a generic option as your main one to promote outside of your family and friends.
3. Have options, but limit them
Buyers love choices and options.
With Bonfire you can offer a t-shirt, sweatshirt, tank top, baseball tee, and so much more. And in a ton of color options.
You may be tempted to select them all, because the more options, the more you will probably sell right?
Not necessarily.
When it comes from a sales point of view, your customers can get overwhelmed with options and making a choice. This may ultimately cause them not to complete their purchase.
I recommend choosing 3, or maybe 4 styles if your offering an option for kids. And at the most, 3-4 color options.
With our fundraiser, I did 3 styles in the womens and just one for the mens. And only 3 color options for each.
4. Promote your shirts
Social media can be a powerful tool in promoting your fundraiser.
Facebook is probably the most popular and you can involve your family and friends in sharing your campaign.
One great place to post your fundraiser is in the Shop for a Purpose Facebook group.
Bonfire has blog post that offers great tips for using facebook. However, I advise you not to waste money paying to promote your post on Facebook
There are so many ways to use social media to promote your fundraiser, that it is not worth the money you will lose to do a paid promotion.
Ask your friends, family, anyone to share! Post in the Marketplace in groups that allow you to promote your fundraisers.
It may look enticing to boost your facebook post for only a little $, but that money will add up fast and you will not necessarily make it back.
5. Thank your Supporters
Make sure you thank everyone that supported you, either individually or on a social media post.
If you use social media to thank your supporters, it will be one last time to put your fundraiser out there and anyone who did not purchase one before, can still get a shirt.
Also, even though people are getting a product, it’s so important to thank your village for supporting you on this journey.
I loved Bonfire so much that I actually used them to create a bulk order for our “We are the Village” shirts after our adoption was finalized.
Everyone in our family got for Christmas last year and they loved them!
